Setting up auto reply with attachment

I'd like to know if it's possible to setup an auto reply message which will reply with an email and an attachment to anyone who emails me.

I have a text document that I send to people and it takes time whenever I have to email them all with an update, so I thought I would give them this email address and tell them to email it, in turn, receiving the new document along with whatever message.

I was looking up tutorials for setting up auto reply in Thunderbird, but it said that I must have my computer on at the time someone emails me. I hope to have it so that someone can email me anytime, whether I'm online or offline.

Anyone have any experience with this?
