As a non-profit organization that offers its products for free, the Mozilla Foundation does not have the same luxury of a large operational budget that other commercial software companies do so it relies on contributions from volunteers to develop, promote, and support its products.
Spread Thunderbird was created to provide a venue for Mozilla Thunderbird advocates where they can contribute to brainstorming marketing campaigns and get Thunderbird promotional tools and resources.

Spreading Thunderbird
What can I do to spread Thunderbird?
One of the easiest ways to spread Thunderbird is to place a Thunderbird download link on your web site or blog, or in your email or profile signature.
If you're a member of Spread Thunderbird then you're automatically enrolled in our affiliates program. We'll provide you with your own unique affiliate download URL for you to use to earn points.
Points allows you to keep track of your Thunderbird referrals and earn bragging rights as a top affiliate.
You will receive one point each time that someone clicks on your Thunderbird download link.
Your point totals are displayed in the right hand column of every page under the Top Affiliates section which is updated daily. Spread Thunderbird members with the most Thunderbird download referrals get listed in the Top 5 Affiliates section (viewable on all pages) and also on the Top Affiliates page.
Cheating is traceable and any member(s) caught abusing the affiliate program may face losing all of their points and being banned from the site.
Visit the Affiliates Home page to grab some Thunderbird promotional graphics and start earning points today.
Also be sure to check out how to add a Thunderbird Affiliate button or signature to Blogger, LiveJournal, MySpace, Typepad, Wordpress, Yahoo! Mail, MSN Mail, and Thunderbird.
Other ways of spreading Thunderbird.
- Grab some cool Thunderbird conversation starters from The Mozilla Store (International store).
- Display Mozilla Thunderbird wallpapers on your monitor
- Post Thunderbird content (reviews and product features, cool add-ons, news stories, etc) on your web site or blog.
- Create and print up Thunderbird flyers (we'll provide some soon) and post them on your school's or community's bulletin board.
- Simply tell a friend or a family member about Thunderbird. Word of mouth is still one of the most effective means of advertising anything especially when it comes from a trusted source.
